Inbox Explorer allows
you to view detailed information about every incoming message. Inbox Explorer
automatically retrieves messages headers from the server and shows you a message
details: Size, From, Subject, To. Also, in the Inbox Explorer you are able to
view what rules can be applied to each retrieved message. In addition, Inbox
Explorer can pull out a specified number of lines from a message body (maximum
100) (see Inbox Explorer Settings). You will
see a message source so as it will be processed by the program. Thus, Inbox
Explorer may be very useful when creating rules for processing incoming
messages. Using Inbox Explorer you can delete unwanted messages from the server
thus protecting yourself against some kind of spam and viruses that may attack
your computer.
To run Inbox Explorer, select the account(s) from the Inbox
Explorer accounts list to retrieve incoming messages and click
Check Inbox button on the Toolbar. In the
table you will see the process of retrieving emails headers.

Account column shows
you the account Inbox Explorer is currently checking.
Total Size column
shows you the total size of messages from the appropriate account.
Total of Messages
column shows you the total of messages from the appropriate account on the
server.
Retrieved Headers
column shows you the number of messages headers already retrieved.
Marked column shows
you the total of marked messages.
Status column shows
you the current status of the appropriate account. If Inbox Explorer retrieved
all the headers from this account, there will be OK in the Status column. If you
stopped the module by clicking Stop, the
Status column will show you 'Stopped'.
In the Delete column
you can check the appropriate checkbox to mark a message for deletion from the
server. Just click the right mouse button and the popup menu with the following
options will be displayed:
Check All
- allows you to check all the messages for
deletion from the server;
Uncheck All
- allows you to uncheck all the messages;
Delete From Server
- allows you to delete selected messages from
the server;
Save Message(s)
- allows you to retrieve selected messages
from the server and save them to the specified folder. Messages will be saved in
MS Outlook Express format with the .eml extension. This option may be very
helpful when creating a new rule as you can then load the saved messages to test
how the rule works.
Show Rules that can be executed on
message - if you check this option, Inbox
Explorer will parse the retrieved messages and show you the rules that can be
applied to each message in the Rules column. To activate this option, you have
to select rules from My Rules list beforehand.
By default this option is
unchecked (see Inbox Explorer Settings). In
this case you will see nothing in the Rules column and all retrieved messages
will be marked by a yellow envelope
.
As soon as you select this option, messages that fit at least one of selected
rules will be marked by an envelope with a checkmark
and the Rules column will show the rules that you can apply to these messages.
Next to each account in the Inbox Explorer section you may
notice special icons that denote:
- account is
being checked now for incoming emails;
- idle state of
the appropriate account;
- auto checking
of this account every xx min is set (see Accounts -> Connection settings);
- the program
processes xx emails from this account, then disconnects from the POP3 server and
waits xx sec before connecting again (see Accounts -> Connection settings);
- though
Check account every xx min option for
this account is checked, auto checking of POP3 accounts is prohibited by the
General Settings. |
